Pinckney Island NWR

After engaging in enthographic research at Pinckney Island, a visual identity seemed a fitting approach to highlight the already cherished qualities National Wildlife Refuge.
The Shutterspoke symbol represents the activities that visitors love most: Biking and Photography. A key principle behind the design is restraint. rather than maximizing graphic appeal, the design stays minimal to ensure that nature, and not the identity system, captures visitor attention. In its simplicity, The Shutterspoke also opens possibilities for versatile pictograms. To address the common misspelling of ‘Pinckney’ as ‘Pinkney,’ the brand makes a jarring yet deliberate mistake. The statement ‘This is Pinck’ set against bold pink graphics stops people short, forcing them to notice and remember the critical ‘ck.’
